For the Boys!!!

Taking a break from the christmas cards I made a few male cards this week using the fabulous cute squares from the LOTV. They a so quick to use and make a great card in next to no time, with the vintage boys pack only some of the image is coloured so I used my poly's just to add a bit more colour to the image.

The papers all all basic grey from the Oliver & Pyrus collections, the kraft card is actually Papermania sq card blanks which I was very dissapointed with as they are def not strong enough to be a blank so have used them for matting and layering. Buttons, ribbon and string are all from my shop.

Thanks for popping by today.

Cute Squares = quick and easy christmas cards

Hi All,
Hope those of you that went are all fully recovered from the NEC, I had such a fab time and spent lots of money. I went on the Thursday with my hubby, then went back on Saturday with Fern. Bumped into a few bloggin buddies - Heidi, Jacqui, Sarah, Becky it was great to meet you and have a little chat.
One of the things I spent my money on was some of the fabulous Cute Squares from LOTV, such great value and brilliant for making quick cards. Obviously the only downside to them is you cant colour them to match your papers, but im sure most of us have enough different papers to find some that match lol !!
Thought I would show you a couple of quick cards I made using some of the christmas squares.

The papers are Papermania and Crafts-Too, Craftwork cards sentiments, MS border punches, Nesties. Ribbon & Flowers were from the NEC.
Anybody a Take That fan, if so did you get the new album and what do you think about it. Very different I feel and cant really make up my mind about it, love a couple of the songs but not sure on some gonna have to listen to it a few more times before I make my mind up.
Thanks for popping by my blog today.

PPPPPP Pick up a penguin

I have finally got my bum into gear with regards to my christmas cards. I have decided however that I want to go for some quick and easy options as I have quite a few to make. So instead of stamping and colouring I am cheating by using decoupage and pre-printed images.

This first set I have made using the new Penelope and Percy range, I have made a couple of shaker cards and a few with some different folds in them.
Box Step Card - Front
Box Step Card - Inside
Easel Card

Normal Decoupage

Hope you like my quick cards, thanks for popping by today.

All checked out

Hi all, sorry I have not been around for a while been very busy with work. We have been very quiet with the shop over the summer months so have really been putting the work in doing demo days, sourcing new products and such to try and get the business back up to strength. My last demo day was a great success and my classes are doing very well now that I have even had to extend them to fit every one in 35 ladies a week I teach now (I do a class every day!!). Because of this I have been getting to the point that when I get home I am all crafted out, but I really do need to make a start on my Christmas Cards no long now really !!!.

However the card I am about to show you today, was made for my best friends little girl who is 9 today. She is in Oli's class and they are really good friends too.

The papers are making memories and are a from a boy themed pad, but after I have coloured the image they just seemed to fit perfectly. I prettied them up with some flowers and gems and added a little bow and craftwork cards sentiment. The image is from some online colouring pages she is a precious moments image and I have coloured her with promarkers.

Thanks for popping by today, hope to be back soon with some christmas cards.

Handbag Nikki

It is my moms birthday today and being as the lovely Kerry and her team are having a Blog hop (see side bar for info), I though it would be appropriate to use one of her stamps for the card.

I have used the fabulous Handbag Nikki which is very appropriate for her as she is always buying handbags and shoes, and coloured her with Promakers. The papers are Funky Vintage from Dovecraft and ribbon & flowers were from my stash.

Need help - Where can I find?

Hi All,

Not on here to post a card today, but I need your help. I want to make the kids one of those wooden advent calendars for chirstmas.
Do you know where I can get one of those plain wooden boxes with all the little drawers or doors in.
I have been scouring the net and have only found 1 which was £25, is this about right?

Thanks in advance

How does your garden grow?

If your anything like me not like Mary Mary Quite Contrary's !!!! I am rubbish with plants, but this little lady seems to be doing ok.

I have been having a play with my new Sugar Nellie Stamps today and this card is what I came up with. Since I have used a Sugar Nellie I have made the card using the fab Sketch over on the Sugar Bowl.

I have coloured the gorgeous little image with Poly's, the papers are Basic Grey Kioshi and the flowers are creative connections. The buttons & pearls are from stash and the blingy butterfly is from a floristry warehouse.

We had an ok day today at Birmingham, all the results seemed to be good. Abbie has put on weight, grown a bit and the consultant said her x-rays looked good. Madam however was very uncooperative, and at one point managed to smack me right in the mouth with a toy and split my lip (they were sticking a needle in her arm at the time though !!!!). Just got to wait for blood & cough swab results now and see what they come up with so fingers crossed.

Thanks for popping by today, your comments are always appreciated.

Barefooted Babe & Abbie update

Hi All,

Back again tonight with another quick card. The image is another of my uninked stamps that I purchased a while ago, in fact I have recently found quite a few that I forgot I had. We had a bit of a stamp swap in class the other week and my ladies found quite a few bits of new rubber (shame on me!!!).

The image is a Greeting Farm, Papers are Wild Rose Studio-spring fling, flowers are all Prima with Papermania pearl brads (told you I wouldnt be able to resist flowers for long). Craftwork Cards sentiment and the ribbon, button and pins are all from the haberdashery bit of my shop.

Just wanted to say thanks for all your lovely comments about my previous 2 cards and for all your queries about Abbie. She is doing extremely well at the moment (I say will all fingers crossed) she has had a bout of chicken pox over the holidays but has taken it all in her stride and wasnt too bad with it at all. All in all we have had a good couple of months with her, with just a few sniffles here and there. However we are at Birmingham Childrens this Wed coming for her annual MOT so just keeping everything crossed that nothing shows up on x-rays or bloods etc. Its very rare that we leave from there without some sort of bad news so we will just wait and say, maybe lucky this time.

Anyway thanks for popping by my blog today, your comments really do mean a lot.

Anyone fancy a cupcake or three?

Hi all,

Thanks so much for all your lovely comments about my previous card. It really did take some effort to make it but it was great getting back into things.

This card is another simple one, but I do admit I am liking the less is more style. How long it will last I dont know cause I do love my flowers and things.

The image is from Tidlyinks and is coloured with polys, paper is from the Kioshi Basic Grey collection and the twill and button were from my shop.

Thanks for popping by today, am hoping to have some time over the weekend to have a good catch up with everyone. I really have missed looking at all your gorgeous creations.

Thursday 2 September 2010

Hi all,

I know its been a while, but I decided to have a little break from blogging and crafting!!! for a bit. Things got a bit hetic here with the shop, Abbie and life in general and basically I got to the point where I couldn't be bothered to do anything crafty apart from stuff for the shop. I think sometimes life has its little ways of telling you to slow down and something had to give and for me it was the crafting for a while. Unfortunately for me I think my mojo went off on one too and still hasn't returned so I am taking it easy and have made a couple of simple cards for starters.

I love this cute image of Thomas from LOTV, I actually got him at the NEC in March and this was the first time he had seen ink. I have coloured him with polys and added just a few gems and a bit of ribbon as my embellies (told you it was quite simple).

Anyway hope to be back posting regularly on here soon, and thanks for popping by after so long.

Bad news comes in three's !!!!

Hi All,

Well they say bad news comes in threes, and I am having my turn of it this week. Firstly my washing machine decided to conk out on Sat. Then yesterday the fuse kept blowing in the shop, got an electrian out and they think my wiring is shot. They have got me some lighting working as a temp measure, but it looks like I have got to have it all re-wired.
Thirdly and the most worst new of all concerns Abbie, we were at the hosptial last week for our monthly check up and last night her consultant called last night to say that the psuedomonas was back this time with avengance. We had to go back up and see them today and they explained how this was going to affect us now (I wont bore you by going into details). We are all in shock and totally devestated by this news, the upshot is that this will have a massive affect with her lungs and in her life expectancy. Sorry but I dont really know what else to say, but as you have all been so concerned about her in the past, I thought I would let you know how things are at the moment.

Will be back soon with some more cards, thanks for popping by my blog today.

Shop Samples

Hi All,

Well things have been pretty quiet round here on the crafting front, so not much to show at the moment. I have plenty of ideas swimming around, but just dont seem to have the time to actually sit down and craft. I have had a lovely parcel of stamps delivered the other day from Paper Artsy, you know some of those weird ones and am looking forward to having a play with those.

I just remembered these 2 cards, which I made as samples for the shop using one of the new ranges from Wild Rose Studio. So I thought I would show you these.

Hi All,

Have another new card for you tonight, not made for any challenge but purely because at the Demo Day my friend
Fern pinched one of my stamps and coloured her up with a red coat. The image looked fab and I have been wanting to do it myself, so I did.

The image is a new Penny Johnson stamp from Stampaive, after colouring her coat red I have teamed her with Hampstead papers. A few paper flowers and some gorgeous raffia lace & gingham ribbon.

Wishful thinking

Hi all,

Well we had had an action packed few days here, am glad the kids are back at school tomorrow looking forward to the couple of hours rest lol!!!

Today's card is for the Charisma Cards challange, which this week is flowers. Not hard really as most of us use flowers on our cards, although as you will see from my card I have flowers on the papers, on the image and some for embellies as well (so well and truely covered it). I have followed a sketch, but its from a few weeks back and im not sure which challenge blog it was from (sorry!!).

The image is one of the new Leanne Ellis designs from Sugar Nellie, coloured with Poly's for a softer look.

In the Garden

Hi all,

Well another day, another post. Today's card is for three challenges - Friday Sketchers for the Sketch, Stampavie & More for the theme - Summer and Creative Card Crew which is a colour combo of Pink & Green. There is a bit of blue & cream in there too, but its mainly Pink & Green

I have used a gorgeous little Sarah Kay, coloured with promarkers and distressed around the edges with Tea Dye, teamed her with the delish papers from the Papermania Rose Garden pad and added some fabulous flowers and pins, a bit of tulle and another one of those fabric butterflies. Finally I spritzed the whole card with pearl Smooch Spritz Spray.

Hello You !!

Hello again,

Blimey 3 days and 3 posts I must be getting back into the swing of things lol !!!. Over at Stamp with Fun this week their challenge is to make a doorplate.

I think my creation is more of a door hanging rather than a plate, but it is along the same lines.

I took a scalloped circle chipboard shape, covered it with paper and then sanded the edges to try and get a more even shape on the scallops. I have then set eyelets in each scallop and threaded ribbon through making a loop at the top. The gorgeous image is from Stampavie and I think this cheeky chappy looks fab popping up over the plaque to say Hello!!. Finally finished off with a few cherry blossoms and pins.

PFP 1st Anniversary

Hi all,

Well its been a while since I last posted, have been sooooo busy you wouldnt believe. Anyway I have finally had time to have a little play and have made the most of the time playing with my pro-markers. I went off them a little bit when I got my Poly's but I think for some images the pro-markers work so much better. As I teach my ladies in class to colour with them, I really think I should practice what I teach lol!!!!.

So what better challenge to enter than Passion for Promarkers, this weeks challenge is ANYTHING GOES and being as it is their 1st Anniversary they have some fabulous prizes up for grabs.

Sketch Saturday

Hi All,

Well I am well and truely enjoying making things other than cards at the moment. After making the wall hangings I decided to have a go a a few other things, so took a little trip to the stationary shop and got myself some supplies.

Here are the next things I turned my hands to, after being inspired on Donna's blog with her cute little post-it-note holder I thought I would have a go too.

I have followed the sketch over on Sketch Saturday, which was quite an easy one this and being as I was working on a small scale fitted perfectly.

something different

Something different is the challenge over a papertake weekly this week. Now I am feeling better I was going to make my 2 bestest friends thank you cards for the help and support they gave me whilst I was ill and recovering. Then I saw this challenge and whilst looking through my craft cupboard for something else last night I found a chipboard album, as they say I then had a light bulb moment. I decided to make my friends a little wall hanger each, just to tell them how much I appreciate them, and heres what I came up with.

I really enjoyed making these, and they feel a bit more special knowing that they will be a keepsake rather than just a card. I can already feel another one coming on especially as Abbie has spotted them and now wants one for her room.

I am also going to enter these hangings into the following new (new to me!!) challenges I have found today.

Cupcake Craft Challenge - No Squares Allowed

One Stitch at a time challenge - Flowers.

Shopping day

Hi All,

Well I have had a fabulous day today, I am finally more or less back on my feet now after my op. I have been feeling a bit down with everything so my friend decided I needed a girly shopping day out. We started off with Breakfast at Maccy's (pancakes & syrup) yum!!! then off for a bit of shopping with lots of time in the changing rooms, then a bit of lunch followed by lots more shopping. We then came home collected kids from school, got hubby and went off to the cinema to watch Nanny McPhee. I am well and truely shattered but feel sooooo much better.

Anyway thought I pop on a couple more of the cards I made the other day. This first one is for the Totally Gorjuss challenge which this week is ..... Charming..... and I thought rather than do just one I would add a couple, so I got out my pliers, some chain, jump rings and a few charms and this is what I came up with on my card. I also used a totally gorjuss little Tilda image on it as well.

Image - Magnolia
Papers - Wild Rose Studio

This second card is made following the sketch over on Friday Sketchers. I made the card for my friends son who's birthday is tomorrow. He is the same age as my son, and loves his game console. I picked up the fabby papers from the Range a few days ago and knew exactlly how I wanted his card to turn out, as I knew I had this LOTV stamp. But when I got it out I realised that the pic on the TV was a car game, so I cut out around the inside of the screen and replaced with some of the Space Invader backing paper. Although the images on the paper were too big, so I scanned them and printed it off 50% smaller.
